Marta Cardoso Patrocínio is a Portuguese pianist based in Zurich, Switzerland.
She started learning the piano at the age of 7 in her hometown with Maria João Pimentel and at the age of 10 she pursued her studies with Eduardo Resende at the Conservatory of Music in Porto.
In 2012 she decided to proceed her education at the University of Arts in Zurich (ZHdK), where she completed a Bachelor of Arts with Professors Karl-Andreas Kolly and Till Fellner, a Master in Music Performance with Till Fellner and a Master in Music Pedagogy with Konstantin Scherbakov.
From 2021–2022 she graduated with a Postgraduate Concert Soloist at the Royal Conservatory of Antwerp, in Belgium, under the guidance of Sergei Edelmann.
She has performed as a soloist with the Jenaer Philharmonie (Germany) under the direction of Markus L. Frank, Musikkollegium Winterthur (Switzerland) with conductor Dominic Limburg and Orchestra do Norte (Portugal) under the direction of José Ferreira Lobo. She played in Halls such as the Tonhalle Maag, Tonhalle Zürich, Stadthaus Winterthur, Casa da Música, Museu Romântico, Fundação Engenheiro António de Almeida, Palácio da Bolsa, Teatro Rivoli, at the Porto Piano Festival and Aurora Winter Music Festival in Sweden, among others.
The pianist has been attributed the Prizes "Casa da Música" and "Margarida Brochado" and worked with renowned pianists of the musical panorama: Maria João Pires, Konstantin Scherbakov, Lilya Zilberstein, Emanuel Ax, Christine Schornsheim, Pedro Burmester, Paulo Oliveira, José Jamón Méndez and Eldar Nebolsin, among many others.
She takes part in many cultural events promoted by the Portuguese Embassy in Switzerland and the General Consulate of Portugal in Zurich. In 2023, she had the honour of integrating a team of artists of her generation (Helvetia Music Series) in the official celebration of Portugal's Day in Zurich, with the presence of Portuguese President at the time Marcelo Rebelo de Sousa and the Primeminister Luís Montenegro.
She has been part of the "Partitura Workshop", organised by the Orpheum Foundation, where she had the privilege of working closely with Maria João Pires in Zurich and at the Belgais Arts Centre in Portugal.
She received scholarships from various Foundations, such as Zaczkowski, Hirschmann-Stiftung, Elsy Meyer, Lyra, Zangger-Weber und des Freundeskreises der ZHdK. For four years she was a fellow of the program founded by the violinist Yehudi Menuhin "Live Music Now, Switzerland".
Marta feels very connected to the music of the Portuguese composer António Victorino d’Almeida and his work is a source of inspiration for her.
The chamber music plays a significant role in her musical activity. She shared the stage with Orfeo Mandozzi (Cello), Mischa Cheung (Piano), Klaus Schwärzer (Percussion) und Andreas Berger (Percussion) at the Braunwald Musikwochen. Since 2018 she works closely with the Austrian cellist Hyazintha Andrej and they have released their first album together: HONEGGER - BOULANGER - POULENC, available on Spotify.
She often works as an accompanist with the cello students of Thomas Grossenbacher at the ZHdK, accompanies intern competitions at the University and has worked with Philip Draganov at the Music Conservatory of Zurich, as well as with Simon Fuchs at the Arosa Masterclasses

Marta shares her musical knowledge and passion for music with her students at the Music Conservatory in Zurich since 2020.
